2018 – Gonzalo Sainz-Trapaga meets Jesus de la Sota.

Gonzalo Sainz Trapaga: In the studio of Breite Straße 50, 53111 Bonn.

During a visit to the painter Marta de la Sota in Madird in October 2017, Gonzalo Sainz-Trapaga saw for the first time some drawings of Jesús de la Sota, the father of the artist. These drawings are incredibly close to some of his works, except that they date from the
period between 1958-60. They were drawn in a sanatorium where the artist was being cured of tuberculosis. Five of these sheets are now on display along with drawings, prints and sculptures by Gonzalo Sainz-Trapaga. Many visitors think that these are older works of
him, so close is the work of these two artists, who never met in person.

Starting from March 2017
While looking through his graphic work, Gonzalo Sainz-Trapaga – artist and sculptor – found some works he had made about 10 years ago. They are inspired by the  Zen-painting “Zenga”, where creation is expressed in an intuitive and spontaneous way. Eight ink paintings from Gonzalo Sainz-Trapaga’s Zenga phase are currently on display in “3 Schätze”.
